You do not need to be enrolled in a degree-bearing program to pursue a certificate. When your only program will be a certificate, you apply as “non-degree seeking.” 

Already accepted in a UK degree-bearing program?

• Current UK Graduate Students

  • Graduate students will need to complete an additional application to add a graduate certificate to their plan of study.

• Current UK Undergraduate Students

  • Are you a current UK student pursuing an on-campus bachelor's degree? Online undergraduate certificates have no additional tuition/fee cost for full-time, on-campus, degree seeking bachelor students. Just go to MyUK and click "Major Change/Add" to add a fully-online certificate program.
  • Are you a current UK student pursuing an online bachelor’s degree? Complete a separate “non-degree seeking” application to add the undergraduate certificate program. Online students are responsible for the cost of additional credit hours.

What Proof Will I Have Reflecting Completion of a Certificate Program?

Upon program completion, students are mailed a frameable certificate denoting the completion of their certificate program. The program’s completion is also denoted on the student’s transcripts and becomes part of their higher education record. 

What Certificate Programs are Available through UK Online? 

UK Online offers both undergraduate certificate online programs, and graduate certificate online programs. 

Do I need to have a Master’s degree or higher to take a graduate certificate program?

No. But you do need to have a bachelor’s degree to be admitted into a graduate certificate program.

Do I need to already be in college to take an undergraduate certificate program?

No. The only requirement to take an undergraduate certificate program is self-certification of having a high school diploma or its equivalent. 

Can I take a certificate program by itself, without pursuing a degree at the same time?

Yes. There is no requirement to be enrolled in a degree-bearing program to take any of our online certificate programs.
