UK Online (UKO) is excited to announce the launch of the Online Course Quality Pilot for the academic year 2025-2026, an initiative designed to equip and support full-time instructors in enhancing the design, development and quality of their online courses. This pilot offers instructors the opportunity to incorporate evidence-based practices in course design to create dynamic learning environments that foster student success and maximize learning outcomes. Participants who complete pilot milestones will receive a $2,000 incentive!
Why Participate?
This program is ideal for instructors who want to improve the online learning experience for their students. By joining the pilot, instructors will:
- Gain expertise in designing and delivering high-quality online courses.
- Receive personalized guidance and instructional design support.
- Update course materials to align with Quality Matters (QM) standards.
- Develop engaging, media-rich content and assessments.
Pilot Structure and Timeline
The Course Quality Pilot runs from June 1, 2025, through April 30, 2026, with structured learning and implementation phases:
- Summer 2025 – Pre-work and three-day required bootcamp in June, featuring interactive sessions.
- Fall 2025 – Three virtual sessions with instructional design support as instructors revise their courses.
- Spring 2026 – Final course revisions submitted for review, followed by a showcase and recognition event.
Who should apply?
Applications are open to full-time instructors who teach distance learning (DL) courses and meet the following criteria:
- Have taught the selected DL course for at least two semesters and identifies one (1) DL course for quality improvement.
- Commit to participating in all required pilot activities.

- Notification to instructor: April 23, 2025 (w/ confirmation from instructor by April 30, 2025)
