As the demand for online learning continues to grow, the University of Kentucky is expanding its portfolio of online programs to match students’ needs. An array of new programs, at both the undergraduate and graduate level, were recently launched and are available to students starting this Fall.
New Undergraduate Certificate Programs
Arts Emergency Management
Arts Emergency Management is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and strategies necessary to effectively manage a range of crises within the context of the arts and cultural sectors. The University of Kentucky is the only institution to provide this certificate program.
The certificate provides a human-centered, all-hazards approach through all stages of the emergency management cycle—mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. Interwoven through this approach is a focus on social and environmental justice, which are considered key components in building resilient arts and culture organizations.
Creative Social Entrepreneurship
Creative Social Entrepreneurship establishes a dynamic creative career and builds entrepreneurial skills for social good. This is a transdisciplinary field connecting creative, social, and entrepreneurial practices to improve the economic, environmental, political, and social well-being of society.
As an emerging creative social entrepreneur, you will gain hands-on experience, engage with industry-leading experts, and participate in transdisciplinary collaboration to become a visionary leader who uses creative talent to drive positive change and build a more sustainable and ethical creative and cultural sector.
New Graduate Certificate Programs
Accounting Analytics
Accounting Analytics is a quick upskill in the areas of data analysis and visualization. This 9-credit hour program is designed to provide accounting students and professionals with a strong foundation in the theory and application of analytics.
Arts Emergency Management
The Arts Emergency Management certificate program is only offered at UK and is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and strategies necessary to effectively manage a range of crises within the context of the arts and cultural sectors.
This interdisciplinary program combines principles in emergency management, arts administration, risk assessment, and crisis communication to prepare students for leadership roles in ensuring the safety, preservation, and continuity of artistic and cultural operations during times of emergencies or disasters. Interwoven through this approach is a focus on social and environmental justice, which are considered key components in building resilient arts and culture organizations.
Autism Spectrum Disorder
The Autism Spectrum Disorder graduate certificate helps you enhance your skills and gain advanced credentials to implement evidence-based and research-based practices when working with individuals with autism. This program is ideal for special educators, related service providers, and other stakeholders who serve the ASD population.
Creative Social Entrepreneurship
The CSE graduate certificate will help you learn how to lead an innovative creative career, inspire sustainable community change, and become a creative social entrepreneur. Creative social entrepreneurship is a transdisciplinary field connecting creative, social, and entrepreneurial practices to improve the economic, environmental, political, and social well-being of society.
Taxation
Students looking to grow and strengthen their knowledge in taxation will acquire a deep understanding of tax law dealing with complex issues, tax strategy and tax research, which is not covered at the undergraduate level.
Students who complete this program will be well prepared to sit for the Tax Compliance and Planning specialty exam.
New Master Degree Programs
Special Education (for Option 6 teachers)
The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) with a focus in Special Education is designed for educators in Kentucky who are teaching in a special education classroom under a temporary provisional certificate (Option 6). This program offers a unique opportunity to earn your master's degree while gaining essential classroom experience.
Our students teach during the day and attend classes in the evenings online. This practical approach allows you to apply what you learn immediately in your classroom, enhancing both your teaching skills and career prospects.
Supply Chain Management
The University of Kentucky's online Master of Science in Supply Chain Management (MSSCM) blends end-to-end supply chain concepts like strategic sourcing and channel management with big data analytics and cross-functional business knowledge. This program will give you first-hand industry project experience, small class sizes, and the convenience of attending class online.
