SLAM

Looking to add a Publisher Tool or an External App to your course? SLAM is the Self-Service LTI App Management app. It allows instructors to quickly and easily add and remove other LTI apps to their course. Visit the SLAM tool in Canvas Integration Central.

Turnitin

New Canvas Features

Accessibilty Checker

The Canvas Accessibility Checker scans course content for common accessibility issues such as missing alt text, color contrast problems, and incorrect heading structure. It provides guided, in‑context fixes for instructors.
 
 

Discussion Checkpoints

Discussion Checkpoints allow instructors to assign multiple due dates and point values within a single graded discussion, typically separating the initial post from required replies.
 
 

IgniteAI Translations for Inbox

This feature provides real-time translation capabilities for messages in the Canvas Inbox, facilitating communication between users who speak different languages.
 
 

IgniteAI Translations for Discussions and Announcements

IgniteAI Translations for Discussions and Announcements allows users to translate discussion posts, entire discussion threads, and announcements while preserving the original content alongside translated text.
 
 

IgniteAI Question Authoring for Quizzes

IgniteAI Question Authoring is an AI‑assisted tool within New Quizzes that generates draft quiz questions from course content, uploaded files, or instructor‑provided text. Instructors review and edit all generated questions before use.
 
 

New Quizzes

New Quizzes is now available in all courses without needing to toggle it on. It introduces expanded question types, improved accommodations, enhanced reporting, and greater accessibility. When creating a quiz, instructors will be asked if they would like to use New Quizzes or Classic Quizzes.
 
 

Video Caption Generation

Video Caption Generation can easily create captions when you record a new video or upload an existing video in Canvas using the Rich Content Editor. Users can easily upload caption files or edit auto-generated captions for accuracy, enhancing accessibility with interactive, searchable transcripts. This feature is available to both instructors and students, promoting participation and improving overall course accessibility.
