Canvas 101
Canvas 101 provides an overview of the layout and features included in a Canvas course. Instructors will learn about the Course Navigation Menu and the tools and components available in Canvas to deliver content. This introductory demonstration provides users with the background knowledge needed to begin their Canvas journey.
Design Plus
DesignPLUS is a Canvas plug-in that is designed to help faculty and instructional designers build and format pages in Canvas courses without coding. Digital Accessibility Starter Kit
This workshop introduces participants to digital accessibility topics in relation to the recent updates to Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Buddy Hall from UK Online and Jennifer Pusateri from CELT will talk about some of the most common accessibility barriers in digital content including alternative text, headings, and color contrast and walk participants through a demo of the Ally accessibility tool that is a built-in part of UK’s Canvas platform.

Echo360 Webcam Capture
This workshop provides an overview of the screen and webcam video capture tool in Echo360, including what it is, how to access it, and how to get started creating your own personal video recordings. Learn how to upload your videos and then find them when you need them. This webinar recording is presented in the Echo360 viewer with captioning and transcript. Come learn about the Faculty Media Depot (FMD), a vital resource for UK faculty, and how to maximize this resource for quality online course design and student learning. The FMD supports the creation of high-quality multimedia through services such as video and audio recording, video creation, graphic design, and video editing, allowing faculty to elevate their online teaching.

Distance Education Global Compliance: All Things Considered
This workshop video provides detailed guidance on the legal risks and factors to consider when delivering online education abroad. It walks viewers through a step-by-step process for addressing global compliance issues in decision-making. The video introduces the role of the Global Compliance Research Group (GCRG), shows how to interpret legal risks presented in the internal dashboards, and highlights both program-specific and country-specific considerations. Participants will learn how to assess risks, advise students, and ensure compliance with U.S. and international laws.

This introductory video provides an overview of distance education global compliance for UK administrators, academic units, and others involved in offering online programs abroad. It highlights potential risks of non-compliance, explains UK’s country review process, and shares illustrative examples. Viewers are introduced to internal dashboards, the public Global Compliance Map, and other key resources to support informed decision-making.
Navigating the Landscape of State Authorization
This video provides a brief overview of state authorization requirements and their effect on the University of Kentucky’s out-of-state educational activities. It covers what triggers these requirements, SARA’s role, when additional authorization is needed, consequences of not complying, and how to use UK’s State Authorization and Out-of-State Field Placement Maps to help ensure compliance and protect distance education students.
An Overview of Professional State Licensure Requirements
This video provides an overview of federal and state rules for professional licensure programs, institutional disclosure requirements, and the impact of licensure determinations on student enrollment eligibility and Title IV funding for distance education. It also explains the relationship between state authorization and professional licensure compliance and demonstrates how to use UK’s State Licensure Map and other resources to assist students and maintain institutional compliance.
Regular and Substantive Interaction (RSI)
This self-paced, asynchronous course prepares faculty, course developers, and staff who design and instruct online courses at the University of Kentucky to understand the U.S. Department of Education’s regulatory requirements on Regular and Substantive Interaction (RSI) and Academic Engagement. Learning objectives include:
- Identifying methods of substantive interaction acceptable for the US Department of Education requirements
- Recognizing components of regular instruction
- Identifying academic engagement instructional activities acceptable for U.S. Department of Education requirements
